It’s the time for gourds, of all shapes and sizes, to come off the vine. With a slew of farms all around the bend, there are some seriously fun events for the whole family. Hop on to this virtual hayride as we make our way through the corn mazes and take a look at some top pumpkin patch parties.
In Spanish Springs, the Andelin family is busy with a whole slew of activities for the kiddos. Andelin Family Farm is open Tuesday through Saturday through Oct. 28. The have a cow train, art barn, plant cycle and animal field trips, duck races, lassoing, cow milking, cart track, hay bale maze and hayride. This year, their Treasure Hunt-themed corn maze will keep you entertained for hours. Did we mention they also have Corn Creepers? This haunted attraction will turn any big kid into a scaredy cat in no time.'
Ferrari Farms is open every day through Oct. 31. Located just off Mill Street in Sparks, you can pick the perfect pumpkin within the city limits. With farm animals, bounce houses, hayrides, zombie paintball, and more, entry is free with activities individually priced. You can even channel your inner hero navigating the 5-acre corn maze — venture your way through the path, with new twists and turns cut through the cornfield every year. It’ll be a fun one!
Did you know it’s the 75th anniversary of Curious George? At Lattin Farms in Fallon, they are celebrating the momentous occasion with a little monkeying around. Lattin Farms is open Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 28. This year, pumpkin patch goers will find a corn maze, Kids’ Korner, scarecrow factory, crafters market and pumpkin tower.
To quote the late Walt Disney, “When you’re curious you find lots of interesting things to do.” And, this outing will surely be interesting.
In addition to pumpkins, autumn is also the time for apples and Corley Ranch in Gardnerville has just the activity for them! Can you say, “Giant Sling Shot?” Yep, you’ll love hitting the target and making an adventurous applesauce of sorts. They also have miniature golf, pig races, hay wagon rides, a corn maze, farm animals, kiddie land and more. Corley Ranch is open every day through Oct. 30.
This one-day event Oct. 14 at Incline Village Nursery School in Incline Village brings together quite the lineup of performers — Mojo Green, Kyle Ledson and DJ Felipe Leon will all take the stage. The children will love the glitter tattoos, face painting, bungee trampoline, rock climbing wall, pony rides, carnival games, pumpkin decorating, and more. For the foodie, they’ll have food trucks and concessions. All proceeds benefit the Incline Village Nursery School.
