Forget politics, Sierra Nevada skiing starts Thursday
It’s time to forget about the stressful political season and start thinking about linking some turns.
On Thursday Mammoth Mountain is scheduled to open for the ski season, which would make it the first resort open on the North American west coast.
According to operators of the resort seven runs will be open to skiers and there will be top-to-bottom skiing on the mountain.
Three lifts are expected to be turning.
Mammoth's website reports six inches of base at the main lodge, elevation 8,909 feet, 12 inches at McCoy Station, 9,630 feet and 36 inches at the summit, 11,053 feet.
Lift tickets for opening day are $50 and first chair is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
It takes a little more than three hours to drive from Reno to Mammoth.
