Animal Ark holds Midtown Safari Art Walk
Animal Ark, a wildlife sanctuary and nature center located north of Reno, is bringing a one-of-a-kind art show to the heart of town with the Midtown Safari Art Walk May 20-June 12.
Animal Ark has teamed up with 15 Midtown businesses, each creating their own unique art piece by decorating canvases to represent both their business and an Animal Ark ambassador for inspiration. Animal Ark’s mission is to provide a peaceful refuge for injured, abandoned or unwanted wildlife while inspiring environmental care through wildlife education.
“When you visit Animal Ark, you’ll get to know our animals as the individuals they are,” said Aaron Hiilbel, co-founder and executive director of Animal Ark. “And we know their unique personalities will shine through the art created for the Midtown Safari Art Walk.”
Attendees will see art inspired by animal ambassadors like Daniel the mountain lion, Koda the arctic fox, Zechariah the red-tailed hawk, Ringo the raccoon, Jamar the cheetah and more.
Participating businesses include the Cheese Board, Sundance Books & Music, Great Full Gardens, Jus, Süp, Cooper Cat Studios, Mari Chuy’s Mexican Kitchen, Recycled Records, Green Rush, Guidenby, Inc., Black Hole Body Piercing, Happy Happy Joy Joy, Craft Wine & Beer, Peerless Cleaners and The Melting Pot.
The Midtown Safari Ark Walk is a free event. Animal Ark sanctuary is located at 1265 Deerlodge Road north of Reno. From April through November, hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
