Ziggy Marley coming to Cargo Reno
David Nesta “Ziggy” Marley is the son of Rita and Bob Marley. His introduction to music was when he was 10 years old and he sat in on recording sessions with his father. Since then, Marley has carved his own path, releasing 12 albums throughout his musical career that have secured him six Grammy Awards and an Emmy.
During his time as the front man to Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, the group released eight best-selling albums that garnered three Grammys, with such chart-topping hits as “Look Who’s Dancing,” “Tomorrow People” and “Tumbling Down.”
Marley made his debut as a solo artist in 2003 with the album "Dragonfly," which explored social, political and personal topics. The album had a strong rock and hip-hop flair to it and featured Flea and John Frusciante from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In 2006, he won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album for his second solo release, "Love Is My Religion."
Marley is set to release his sixth solo album, "Ziggy Marley," on May 20. The new self-titled album marks his first release in two years, following 2014’s critically acclaimed "Fly Rasta," which took home the 2015 Grammy award for Best Reggae Album.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. May 30. Tickets are available here and cost $30 in advance or $33 on the day of the show.
