The lineup at Cargo Reno, located inside Whitney Peak Hotel, gets better with age. The June roster promises to be some of the best yet, an excellent way to start the summer off on the right foot.

The Climax Tour, feat. Sammy J, Tenelle, Finn, Yung LB, and Pieter T | June 5 / 7 p.m. / $20 | Click here for tickets

Find the funk in your soul with this rocking mix of musicians. Sammy J hails from Brisbane, Australia and will be bringing his eclectic palette of R&B, Soul, Scat Jazz, and Funk to the United States for the first time this summer. Sammy J taps into his heritage to inform his music, hoping to inspire change and positivity through his songs. Tenelle has been described by many as a "breath of fresh air," with her R&B and reggae sound. From Carson, CA, Tenelle has performed around the world, making people smile at her happy beats on a daily basis. From Sacramento, Finn often refers to himself as "the groovah." Without money for CDs, Finn got his musical education via the radio and considers Boyz II Men and Sade among his influences. It wasn't until high school, though, when he was exposed to reggae at church dances. That's when he knew he wanted to make a career out of being a musician. Yung LB will be performing his own unique blend of urban music on this tour. Pieter T is coming all the way from Auckland, New Zealand to be part of The Climax Tour, putting his whole soul into his brand of R&B.

James McMurtry with Max Gomez | June 11 / 8 p.m. / $17 / 18+ | Click here for tickets

Folk rock artist James McMurtry's new album, Complicated Game, is a deeply personal story about relationships, both his own and those of others. "I never make a conscious decision what to write about," McMurtry said. That makes his music all the more personal and more heartfelt, giving listeners old and new an appreciation for the effort he puts into his work. Taos, New Mexico born and raised Max Gomez steeps his music with the art and spirituality he learned growing up in the New Mexican culture. His album, Young Love, runs the gamut of love and heartbreak, desperation and redemption, but all the songs tell a story, which is important to Gomez. He wants to entertain while still sharing his thoughts and feelings about things that are meaningful to him and, he hopes, his listeners.

Confederate Railroad | June 13 / 8 p.m. / $17.50 / 18+ | Click here for tickets

Blending together all the many genres that fall into the country music category, Confederate Railroad is a hit with all generations, from grandparents down to teens. These five young men make themselves at home wherever they are performing, whether it be at a fair or a nightclub, which means they'll fit right in at Cargo. They love their fans, too, hanging out until every autograph has been signed and every photo has been taken.

Two Cow Garage with Vague Choir and Seasons of Insanity | June 21 / 8 p.m. / $10 | Click here for tickets

Alt rock band Two Cow Garage released Death of the Self-Preservation Society in 2013, an album of songs built around the line "no one makes it out alive." It's that kind of hard rock attitude that give the band such excellent stage presence and lets them blur the lines between Americana, punk, and rock. Local favorite Vague Choir frontman got his start in music touring the west coast, playing a variety of venues before releasing an album on his own. By 2007, he'd added a few more members to the choir and changed his name from Mister Vague to Vague Choir, cementing his success around the country. Seasons of Insanity also hails from Reno, and is a Southern rock, all-American family band started by Shane Whitecloud. For Whitecloud, starting a band was a dream come true and he's glad to be a part of something so great.

Robert Earl Keen with Sam Outlaw | June 26 / 8 p.m. / $27 / 18+ | Click here for tickets

It seems to be a summer of country at Cargo, with both Robert Earl Keen and Sam Outlaw performing twangy, Americana-infused hits. Keen has a down-home sound fueled by his love and passion for the music and he hopes to play for as long as possible.
