Brian Voyles leaves Galena basketball program
There is another opening in the high school basketball coaching ranks.
Brian Voyles and Galena have mutually agreed to part ways.
Voyles said it is an amicable parting and that he is interested in looking at other coaching opportunities in basketball.
Voyles said he felt it would be best to not be at Galena while he is looking elsewhere.
“I’m looking at other possibilities. There’s no hard feelings,” Voyles said. “I had a good run at Galena.”
Voyles compiled a 107-41 record at Galena in five seasons there.
He coached his son, Dillon, the past four seasons on the Galena varsity.
Galena won the Sierra League in the Northern 4A last season, going 13-3 in league, 22-6 overall.
Galena athletic director Greg Sakelaris said anyone interested in the Galena coaching position should apply online on the Washoe County School District website.
There are also openings for boys basketball coaches at Sparks, Hug, Damonte Ranch and Carson and for the girls program at Bishop Manogue.
Dillon Voyles is being recruited by several colleges for basketball, but will not decide on a school until next month at the earliest.
