Summer has arrived and it is hot. Nothing may be as cooling as a cocktail, glass of wine or fresh brew in hand in the evening. Plenty of places have patios or outdoor seating for going outside and eating and drinking while taking in the natural view. Here's a list of 10 places in the Reno-Sparks area that offer some type of outdoor seating to imbibe that adult drink.
Z Bar in Midtown
Formerly known as the Washoe Bar and the Office Bar, the Z Bar in Midtown took on its current name in 2013. Due to continual operation since 1952 – yes, 1952! – this bar is known as a go-to in the Midtown area for locals. To enjoy a summer evening at the Z Bar, 1074 S. Virginia Street, just order one of their cocktails, like the Gin Gin Ginger or the Z Veracruzana, and head out to the patio, which features a fire pit.
The Twisted Fork, in South Reno, offers a delightful atmosphere for diners to have dinner and a cocktail outside in the patio seating area. Overhead lights and potted plants add ambience while diners enjoy a drink or meal with friends. The Twisted Fork, 1191 Steamboat Parkway, is the 'brainchild' of the executive chef of another area restaurant who started adding a creative 'twist' to some essential dining classics.
The Brewer's Cabinet
What's not to love about this restaurant and brewpub that features lovely outdoor seating to enjoy a meal as well as a cocktail? Order a Moscow Mule, Wild Strawberry or Mahogany Peach Iced Tea outdoors in an ambiance that includes overhead lights and seating at chairs and tables that are wood-themed. Check out special dining events at the restaurant, 475 S. Arlington Ave., such as Kegs & Eggs or Taco Night. Details: https://thebrewerscabinet.com

A full bar lets diners maker their choice of what they want to have in hand when they order that entrée or dessert.
O'Cleary's Irish Pub
If Irish is your thing then head over to O'Cleary's Irish Pub at the Legends at Sparks Marina and stock up on fish and chips, Irish stew or corned beef and cabbage. A large outdoor deck is a great way to kick back and listen to music, gab with friends or enjoy that cocktail or Irish spirit.
Sierra Tap House
Check out the view of the Truckee River right from the Sierra Tap house, which opened in 2006 and has been a mainstay ever since.
