5 new and upcoming Reno restaurants
From downtown poke to Midtown 'za to traditional Korean that shines, a round-up of noteworthy openings since late 2017.
Here's the latest on food and drink openings (recent and planned) for Reno:
The Craft Room, 555 W. Sixth St.
The Craft Room, a spot for crafting classes, operates from the rear of an azure bungalow that houses a Farmers Insurance office in front.
The Craft Room recently received Reno City Council approval (pending certain requirements) for on-premise beer and wine sales (the business also serves coffee and tea).
So the arrangement is like a mullet: business in the front, party in the back
Homegrown Gastropub, 719 S. Virginia St.
I saw owner Spencer Shea out on March 16, and he told me Homegrown Gastropub is awaiting one final approval before it can open in a space that previously housing Süp, Midtown Eats and Midtown Tacos.
The menu will feature new American-slash-elevated comfort food, with a wood-fire oven in the basement. The renovation and expansion includes copper ceilings, brass chandeliers, a re-fashioned bar and new seating at back
Royal India, 575 Keystone Blvd.
Royal India recently opened in the Keystone Square (Keystone Avenue and I-80) space occupied by several restaurants over the years, including Pierino's Ristorante Italiano.
Royal India is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with $8.99 lunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 775-507-7444.
Skyline Kitchen & Vine, 2995 Skyline Blvd.
This project, from the owner of Sierra St. Kitchen & Bar in dowtown Reno, is currently going up on Skyline Boulevard in the former Skyline Market, across the street from La Vecchia.
According to Sierra St.'s Facebook page, the new spot will feature a wine shop, beer and wine on tap, and small plates. Projected opening is spring 2018.
Wild Garlic Pizza & Pub, 720 S. Meadows Parkway
Wild Garlic, which already has locations in downtown Reno, Old Southwest and at the airport, recently received Reno City Council approval (subject to certain requirements) for dining room wine and beer.
The fourth Wild Garlic in town is planned for the South Meadows Parkway center that also houses Smith's, Caie's Oriental Cafe and Lounge.
