Inside the new $1 million homes at Caughlin Ranch

The luxe is back at Caughlin Ranch.
Sales are underway at Pine Bluff, the first new neighborhood at Caughlin Ranch in 12 years. The 20-acre development, a project from Reno builders (and brothers) Troy and Travis Means, features 43 home sites, five floorplans that can be customized, and prices ranging from about $800,000 to more than $1 million.
Ground broke in summer 2016; Pine Bluff is scheduled to be completed in 2021.
Recently, @RGJTaste took a tour of the 3,500-square-foot model home, an example of the Spruce floorplan. TRIO Environments, a Denver interior design and visual merchandising firm, created the look of the home, what TRIO founder Angela Harrris called "modern-day high-mountain style."
That style includes 10-foot ceilings (vaulting to 12 feet in spots), gas fireplaces with stone surrounds, and neo-rustic touches like reclaimed wood panels set into the great room ceiling.
The kitchen, flowing from the great room, offers quartz counters fashioned to look like marble (a hot design trend), pendant lights strung above an asymmetrical island, maple cabinets, a walk-in pantry and perhaps what is the coolest element: a microwave drawer to save on counter space.
The Spruce model is configured as a three-bedroom home, with a family room that could be converted to a fourth bedroom with en suite bathroom. The junior bedrooms share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom.
The master bedroom features a vaulted ceiling, the master bath two vanities and a threshold shower (such showers without a lip or rim to step over also are having a design moment).
The master bedroom also incorporates a his-and-hers (or his-and-his or hers-and-hers) walk-in closet, thought that word doesn't do the space justice. It's really a generously sized dressing room. In San Francisco, it would be a studio apartment.
