QUICK BITES

ATLANTIS: An Oktoberfest event takes place at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Grand Ballroom. Tickets cost $75 and include Samuel Adams beer, German cuisine and a stein hosting competition.

The menu includes smoked salmon, German potato salad, sauerbraten with braised red cabbage, grilled bratwurst with sauerkraut, pork schnitzel, apple strudel, Bavarian crème with raspberry coulis and a pretzel station with beer mustard.

A beer stein hoisting competition will take place for a chance to win a trip to the Samuel Adams National Stein Hoisting Competition in Boston. The challenge for contestants is to raise a stein full of beer weighing five pounds in front of them for as long as possible. The current record in the United States is 19 minutes and 15 seconds.

A winemaker’s dinner featuring Cakebread Cellars takes place at 6 p.m. Oct. 26 in Bistro Napa. The cost is $150.

The yellowtail crudo amuse bouche will be paired with a 2016 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc followed by butter-poached Maine lobster complemented by 2013 Los Carneros Reserve Chardonnay.

Kurobuta pork belly will be paired with 2015 Two Creeks Anderson Valley Pinot Noir, and porcini-crusted venison loin will be paired with a 2013 Napa Valley Merlot. Herb-crusted Wagyu strip loin will be served with 2012 Benchland Select Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Dessert is chocolate mousse Napoleon with black cherry compote.

GRAND SIERRA: The Grand Sierra Beer and Chili Festival takes place from noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 21 and 22. Entry is free. Tasting packages start at $20, and $1 from every unlimited tasting package sold goes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The event features the International Chili Society’s World Championship Cookoff and a variety of local and national beers.

Music will be provided both days by local and regional bands, including the Novelists, Spazmatics, Shane Dwight and Con Brio. In addition, the Monster Energy BMX Team will perform three times daily.
