Diamonds and pearls, the theme of this year’s Fantasies in Chocolate, won’t only grace the gowns of gala goers on Nov. 5 in Grand Sierra Resort and Casino.

The annual event raises money for community programs supported by RGJ Media's charitable foundation. (Scroll down for ticket information and a list of vendors and what they'll be offering.)

Diamonds and pearls also will sparkle and softly shimmer atop thousands of confections created by pastry chef Jennifer Kovacs and team at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino, the host property.

Edible diamonds, fashioned from liquid sugar injected into molds, will garnish pastries like miniature cheesecakes striped with chocolate glaze and slices of rich red velvet cake set with rolled wafers dipped in chocolate.

As for candy pearls, they’ll top orbs of passion fruit mousse and swirls of chocolate ganache filling chocolate tart shells and spoons cradling chocolate ganache and a sheen of glitter glaze.

“We can change it to pretty much any color we want,” Kovacs said of the glaze. “We have lots of toys.”

Beyond diamonds and pearls, the GSR booth at Fantasies will offer baubles like tuxedo strawberries and coconut mousse domes dotted with dragées and, perhaps, “some sort of fancy cake pops,” Kovacs said.
