Pumpkin spice has become as synonymous with fall as changing leaves and cardigans, and it’s no longer limited to lattes. These local businesses pump up the flavors with new and different ways to satisfy your need for everything pumpkin spice this fall.

Tradition with a twist in local kitchens

Homage Bakery on Ralston is taking orders for their Walnut Ginger Streusel Pumpkin Pie. This fall favorite goes quickly, so order ahead and pick up a seasonal latte on your way out. Other pies to share include the Maple & Oat and German Chocolate Pecan.

Batch Cupcakery in Midtown has included pumpkin in many of its delectable desserts with paleo pumpkin cupcakes, gluten-free pumpkin scones and paleo pumpkin spice cookies. They also feature organic Pumpkin D Up cupcakes and flavors like Apple Streusel, Cinnfully Maple and Java Joe.

Located next door to Batch, Great Full Gardens will bring pumpkin flavors to their lunch and dessert menus with vegan pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin spice raw “cheesecake” (vegan and gluten-free) and pumpkin pecan pancakes. Check the daily specials for savory pumpkin, sage and hempseed soup.

Pumpkin has made its way into chocolate at Dorinda’s Chocolates on Riverside, where its award-winning pumpkin truffle has appeared for the season. This milk chocolate truffle is filled with real pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg for a decadent taste of fall in one bite.

Coffee, craft beer spice things up

If you’re after something to wash down all those pumpkin spiced treats, hand-roasted, pumpkin spice Brewster’s Coffee is on the menu at My Favorite Muffin. For those taking a riverside stroll downtown, stop by The Jungle for a pumpkin spice latte to go.

Looking for something a little harder? On tap at Great Basin Brewery is The Great Pumpkin Ale, which, according to them, has a palate reminiscent of fall harvest and Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma’s house. At Craft Wine and Beer browse the shelves and walk-in cooler for a variety of seasonal beverages including pumpkin ales.
