There are so many events to take in, but with some planning, everyone can make the most of it, said Mike Whan, executive director of Hot August Nights.

“Come here, and take it in like Disneyland - an automobile Disneyland,” Whan said. “Where you want to go, what you want to see. Just enjoy yourself. It’s a chance for everyone to enjoy everything about the Reno-Tahoe area so they come back for another year.”

These are some events planned during Hot August Nights:

Whan said people sign up to compete for many reasons, but primarily it’s because they think they have the best classic car.

“These are the best of the best for custom classic cars,” Whan said. “Some are being built for this event, on live TV on different channels and some are ma and pa shops that think they have the best cars.”

The applicants will be parked from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3 through Friday, Aug. 5 on Fourth Street in downtown Reno between North Virginia and Sierra streets. According to the Hot August Nights website, the top 10 will receive a jacket, trophy and an invitation to return for the finals on Saturday.
