MacDuff's, brought to the lake by two brothers from Aberdeen, Scotland, offers traditional pub fare like shepherd’s pie, fish and chips and steak and Guinness stew, plus newer favorites like truffled mac and cheese and stone fruit salad. Rounding out the menu are a full line of wine choices and pints of craft beer.

Cold Water Brewery

What: Comfort food and craft beer

Where: 2544 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe

A perfect spot to refuel between runs or to relax at after a full day of skiing, Coldwater brews its own beer on site, drawing inspiration from the Sierra. The grill offers a seasonal lunch and dinner menu with brunch specials every Sunday.

Whiskey Dicks

What: Music, sports and pool in a classic dive bar atmosphere

Where: 2660 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe

Pool, darts and shuffleboard – plus live music on the weekends – make Whiskey Dick’s the go-to place for those looking for a fun dive bar the place to be. Visit on Wednesday nights for free pool and cheap drink specials.

Uncorked Tahoe City

What: Tastings and by-the-glass wines by the lake

Where: 475 North Lake Blvd., Suite 151, Tahoe City

Uncorked demonstrates their expertise with a wines of the world menu, with wines offered for tasting, by-the-glass and by-the-bottle purchase. During the winter season, the bar is inviting winemakers to personally pour and share their wares at their Meet the Winemaker events. Three wines for $10 can be paired with light snacks in the form of cheese, nuts and olives.
