Pink hats, pink tutus, survivors and heroes alike will once again rally to reduce the burden of breast cancer in northern Nevada on Sunday, Oct. 9 at the Grand Sierra Resort when Susan G. Komen Northern Nevada presents its 18th annual Race for the Cure.
“We are so grateful to this community and especially to the Grand Sierra Resort for making sure that we can continue our annual tradition,” Heather Goulding, executive director, said. “Together we will make sure local women get the breast health services they need. We are focused on reducing late-stage breast cancer diagnoses and breast cancer deaths. The more money we raise, the more women we can get screened and diagnosed at an early stage, when odds are the highest to beat this terrible disease. In a community that pays attention to the odds, let’s stand together to shift them in favor of the women we love!”
Last year’s race grossed over $250,000 which will be used to fund necessary breast cancer screenings and treatment services for women in northern Nevada.
