Washoe Lake State Park will offer two guided hikes and a full moon hike this November. They are as follows:

The Deadman’s Creek Hike will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 8 at Washoe Lake State Park, 4855 Eastlake Blvd. Take Exit 44 from I-580, drive north on Eastlake Blvd, 4 miles, and the park’s entrance is on the left. Meet at the Maze parking lot. Enter the park, turn left past the fee booth and it is the first parking lot on the right. This event is free after the park’s entrance fee of $7 per vehicle. Nevada residents receive a $2 discount.  Participants should bring sturdy hiking boots, water, and dress for the weather. This is a moderate, one mile, round-trip hike. Dogs are permitted on this hike, but must be kept on a leash.

The Dune Trek & Beach Stroll is at 10 a.m. Nov. 21 at Washoe Lake State Park. Meet at the Equestrian Pavilion. Turn right past the fee booth, pass the campground and follow the short gravel road to the pavilion. This event is free after the park’s entrance fee of $7 per vehicle. Nevada residents receive a $2 discount.  This is a moderate 2.5 mile hike through the sand dunes and along the beach at Washoe Lake. Most of the hike involves loose sand, so sturdy hiking boots are a good idea. Participants should bring water, binoculars, a camera and dress for the weather. Dogs are allowed on this hike, but must be kept on a leash.

Full Moon Hike is at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 25 at Washoe Lake State Park. Meet at the Maze parking lot. This event is free after the park’s entrance fee of $7 per vehicle. Nevada residents receive a $2 discount. Reservations are required for this moderate, one-mile, round-trip hike. Participants should bring good shoes, water, a flashlight, and dress for the weather. This program will last approximately one hour. Dogs are not permitted on this hike.
