From wine walks to harvest fests to big bowls of chili, there are plenty of fall food and drink events to enjoy in Reno.
Along with cooler temperatures and plenty of pumpkin spice, autumn is bringing an array of distinctive food and wine events to the Reno area. Whether looking for a family activity, an outdoor festival or an evening out for the grownups, there are no shortage of fun and flavorful festivals and events on the calendar.
Wine Walk, Reno Riverwalk District
Third Saturday of each month through December
Fall is a great time to spend an afternoon meandering along the Truckee at the Reno Riverwalk District, and it’s made even sweeter with a glass of wine in hand. From 2 to 5 p.m. the third Saturday of each month, participating locations on the Riverwalk will share with those on the wine-tasting tour samples as they visit locations along the walk. Cost is $20 for the ID bracelet and accompanying wine glass.
Reno Bites Restaurant Week
“Break the chain; eat local” at Reno Bites. For one full week each fall, the Reno Bites festival works with locally-owned restaurants to offer prix fix menus, specials and food-based events all over town. This year’s events include a Yelp Passport, where those attending events and visiting restaurants can gain stickers that will get them in the running to win prizes. Each year’s event caps off with a Chef Showdown, where Reno’s best chefs compete against each other for prizes and of course, bragging rights.
Grand Sierra Resort hosts World's Championship Chili Cookoff
Celebrating the ultimate fall dish, the GSR invites everyone to “chill with chili” at this year’s 2015 World’s Championship Chili Cookoff. Almost 400 chili cooks will compete for titles of best-of-the-best across four different categories, with booths allowing amateur chili judges the chance to find their favorites. Live entertainment and regional craft vendors will give people plenty to do between bites.
