Combining costumes, craft beers and a classic rock cover band, the "Brews & Boos Beer Festival is geared toward the beer enthusiast who wants to dress up and have a great time," said Lisa Jansen, director of special events and entertainment at the Nugget Casino Resort. "The Nugget is well-known for spectacular special events, and this Halloween season, we're going for spook-tacular."
The Nugget Casino Resort's Brews & Boos Beer Festival is designed to deliver the ultimate Halloween celebration. This first-time event is set to take place on Oct. 30 at the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks. Costume-clad guests will get the chance to sample regional fall and winter craft beers as they rock out to the sounds of the Snake Oil Sinners.
"If you have never been served beer by a ghost or a werewolf, now is your chance," Jansen said. "The Nugget will be offering prizes for the best-dressed brewers and attendees, so expect to see some over-the-top Halloween ensembles at Brews & Boos."
Dozens of regional brewers will be on-site to serve up unlimited sips of their seasonal brews. Jansen said brewers will get into the Halloween spirit by dressing in costume and having Halloween-themed booths.
“If you have never been served a beer by a ghost or a werewolf, now is your chance,” Jansen said.
Attendees are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes for a chance to win prizes.
Get your groove on
The featured entertainment for the Brews & Boos Beer Festival will be decked out for Halloween as well. The Snake Oil Sinners — who have toured extensively as members of the bands Harlequin and Prism — will take Brews & Boos guests back in time with the best classic rock songs of the '70s, '80s and '90s. Their show is interactive and completely themed in the genre, right down to the wigs, makeup and costumes. Jansen said event attendees can expect to hear the music of bands such as Def Leppard, Queen, Ozzy, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, Journey and more.
"The Snake Oil Sinners will time warp you to a live ultimate rock show, performing everyone's favorite hair rock, melodic rock, metal and classic rock songs from the '70s, '80s and '90s," Jansen said. "Their show is interactive and completely themed in the genre, right down to the wigs, makeup and costumes."
Doors will open up early for guests with VIP tickets. VIP ticket holders will have the opportunity to sample the beers before those with a general admission ticket, and they’ll also have the chance to talk with the brewers about their craft brews before the event gets busy.
“For the home-brewers, a VIP ticket means a chance to learn secrets from the pros,” Jansen said. “Brewers will be ready to share information about their special fall and winter ales and brews, including how to use seasonal ingredients.”
For out-of-town guests and those who simply want to leave the car parked and let loose, reserve a room at the Nugget Casino Resort. Jansen said Brews & Boos attendees receive a special room rate of $59 on Oct. 30.
The cost to attend the Brews & Boos Beer Festival is $65 for VIP tickets and $50 for general admission, and all guests receive a free commemorative cup for sampling brews.
"We're telling everyone to get their tickets early, because ticket prices increase by $10 on the day of the event," Jansen said.
Boos & Brews begins at 8 p.m. for guests with general admission tickets and 7 p.m. for those with VIP tickets. The extra hour gives VIP ticket holders the chance to taste their favorite brews first and chat with brewers before the event gets busy.
