For the first time in 55 years, Virginia City's most notorious annual event has a home of its own. Taking place at the new Virginia City Arena & Fairgrounds, this year's 56th annual International Camel & Ostrich Races, presented by Dolan Auto Group, will christen the arena and with it brings new and improved seating options for attendees to experience this hilarious event up close. Set for Sept. 11-13, tickets are on sale now at VCCamelRaces.com.

"First of all, our new venue is flat and that allows for more space including an all bleacher seating venue, something that we were limited with at our other location," Deny Dotson, tourism director for the Virginia City Tourism Commission, said. "Everyone who purchases a ticket will have a seat and there's really not a bad spot in the house. No more are we asking folks to bring their own lawn chairs or sit in the dirt. Parking, vendors and the event take place at one location. It's a much improved experience overall."

General Admission tickets are $15 for Friday and Sunday races and $18 on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Upgraded seating options are also available including VIP and In-Arena seating. VIP ticket holders receive access to the VIP Hospitality Tent with plenty of shade, seating, a BBQ buffet provided by Smokey's Kitchen and one free drink ticket. VIP tickets are $40 for Friday and Sunday's races and $50 Saturday, Sept. 12. In-Arena seating allows attendees to get in the arena with a sectioned off location including umbrellas, table seating, and a dedicated cocktail server. In-Arena tickets are $25 Friday and Sunday and $30 Saturday, Sept. 12.

Tickets are available for purchase online at VCCamelRaces.com, where detailed seating options and the venue layout are also available.

The Virginia City Arena and Fairgrounds is located three blocks south east of C Street on F Street. The new venue features improved ease of access for attendees, more parking spaces, more convenient parking options and improved handicapped and stroller access. Additional parking is available throughout town. A free shuttle will operate daily to provide rides to and from the Arena & Fairgrounds.
