Whitney Peak Hotel and its Cargo Concert Hall are teaming up with Northern Nevada Veterans Resource Center for an evening of rock music to raise relief funds for veterans displaced by wildfires on the West Coast. Reno’s KDOT Rock 104.5 will present the benefit concert, the third annual Rock for Warriors, on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, featuring Trapt, Adelita’s Way and Seasons of Insanity.
Doors open at 5 p.m., and the show kicks off at 6 p.m. The first 50 active or retired military personnel can receive a special Veterans Day ticket rate of $10 per person with a current military identification card or VA card (limit two per person).
“We are proud to support our country’s veterans, and, in particular, help provide relief to those veterans who are homeless or displaced due to extenuating circumstances,” said Dan Bishop, production manager for Cargo Concert Hall.
Last year, the Northern Nevada Veterans Resource Center provided assistance to more than 730 veterans and their families. The site provides low-income and extremely low-income veterans assistance through the Department of Veterans Affairs, Supportive Services for Veterans and Families grant, which focuses on homelessness prevention and rapid rehousing. NNVRC offers veterans and their family members case management and assistance in getting other public benefits, as well as temporary financial assistance on behalf of veterans for rent payments, utility payments, security deposits and moving costs.
