Death Cab for Cutie returns to Reno for a Sept. 28 performance in the newly renovated Grand Theatre inside Grand Sierra Resort and Casino. The opening act is American rock duo Best Coast.
The indie rock band is touring in support of its latest album "Kintsugi," which features the singles "Black Sun," "The Ghosts of Beverly Drive," "No Room In Frame" and "Little Wanderer."
The name for the album is taken from Kintsugi, which is a philosophy derived from the Japanese art of highlighting flaws by repairing cracks with gold highlighting. The band said the name was an appropriate term for the album that allowed them to repair its own breaks and make them into things of beauty.
The band formed in 1997 in Washington state. Its members are vocalist Ben Gibbard, bassist Nick Harmer and drummer Jason McGeer. Guitarist Chris Walla left the band after the recording of "Kintsugi."
Hits and notable songs include "Soul Meets Body," "Crooked Teeth," "I Will Follow You Into the Dark," "The New Year" and "I will Possess Your Heart."
