Dermody Properties, a national industrial real estate owner-operator, has announced the Northern Nevada recipient of the annual Dermody Properties Thanksgiving Capstone Award is the Food Bank of Northern Nevada (FBNN), which will receive $25,000 to assist with its School Pantry program.
The Dermody Properties Thanksgiving Capstone Award is presented each year during the holiday season by the Dermody Properties executive management committee to help nonprofit organizations address the increased need they experience during the holidays. The award was created by Dermody Properties as a way to give thanks at a special time of year.
Through its School Pantry program, FBNN sets up and stocks food pantries in schools throughout the district. There are currently 20 school pantries operating in Washoe County serving approximately 260 people, per pantry, every month. Interested parties can help further the work of the FBNN’s School Pantry program by donating at fbnn.org.
Dermody presented the award to FBNN President and CEO, Cherie Jamason on Nov. 18. The Dermody Properties Thanksgiving Capstone Award will help the Food Bank of Northern Nevada deliver 75,000 meals through this vital program.
“We are so grateful for this partnership with Dermody Properties and their generous Thanksgiving Capstone Award, which will help support the 2016-2017 School Pantry Program,” said Jamason. “This vital donation supports children and families in our community so that they may achieve their full potential. Children who receive proper nutrition do better in school, are sick less often and are better prepared to reach their goals and become the educated workforce of tomorrow.”
