Overall Vibe of the Neighborhood: Spanish Springs is a census designated area in the northeastern part of the Reno/Sparks metro area. The area is home to the historic Sky Ranch Airport, home to the 1964 and 1965 Reno Air Races. Later, it was home to the Rocketdyne Nevada Field Laboratory, used for testing rocket engines for the space program. Sky Ranch closed in 1971 and the land is now home to the Spanish Springs airport.
