April is the cruelest tastiest month . . . as the restaurant news keeps coming in the Biggest Little City.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is opening in the new South Meadows Promenade at Gateway Drive and South Meadows Parkway, according to building permit information provided by BuildZoom, an online remodeling marketplace and construction information aggregator.

The BuildZoom report also linked to the same information from the building and permit portal created by local governments..

The address of the new Chipotle is 537 South Meadows Parkway. The restaurant joins three other Chipotles in the area (Northwest Reno, mid-Reno and Sparks). Chipotle is still trying to make a comeback from the E. Coli outbreak of 2015, with profits plunging 95 percent in 2016, according to its earnings report released on Feb. 2.

■ Moving north, we find that renovation is underway at the former Carrows Hickory Chip Restaurant at 860 E. Plumb Lane, at Kietzke Lane (Jeremiah's Steakhouse and Great Wall Chinese Buffet used to be next door at 880 E. Plumb).

John Kukulica, a onetime local food and beverage exec who now is an Aflac agent, recently sent word over the transom that the new restaurant will be called Redwood Rotisserie, something confirmed by the fictitious firm name records of Washoe County.

■ Finally, we find ourselves in Midtown. If I can digress a bit, I meant to post an April Fool's piece about a bar in Midtown called Barba that would only admit men if they had beards (not metrosexual stubble, mind, but full-on growth). The bar was even going to have a gay night that served cocktails like a Brian Sims (have the gay in your life explain that reference).

Anyway, I got lazy on April 1 (and I wasn't sure of the boss' feeling about April Fool's efforts), so the only Midtown thing I did this past weekend was to check out Badabing's, a new burger, hot dog, cheesesteak, wings and sausage spot at 999 S. Virginia St., at Mary Street. (Some public records list the name as One Eyed Jack's Burger Shack.)

The place looks like it's about to open. Badabing's occupies the former office hut/cottage of Utility Trailer Sales.
