Reno is all about ribs come Labor Day weekend. With the excitement around the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off, it's hard to think of anything other than digging into a rack of sweet, tangy and spicy.

But, what about the other 358 days of the year when you're craving a rack? Reno's got plenty of options from high-brow to home-cooking. Here's our top picks.

Bimini Steakhouse or Chi at the Peppermill Resort Hotel
The Peppermill Resort Hotel offers two restaurants with different takes on ribs. Check out Chi for barbecue pork spareribs or the beef short ribs at Bimini Steakhouse, which are braised with ale and mustard and served with veal sweetbreads, grilled asparagus and lemon.

Bistro Napa in the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa
One of Bistro Napa's signature dishes is Cabernet braised boneless short ribs, served with horseradish mashed potatoes, herb salad, sauce bordelaise. Pro-tip: Check out Bistro Napa during Social Hour daily from 4-6 p.m for half price on small plates, cocktails and the restaurant's 8-ounce pours of wine. Also during Social Hour, check out the Asian barbecue Pork Ribs with a plum ponzu glaze and vegetable chiffonade.

BJs Barbecue
If you're looking for a tried and true favorite, you can't go wrong with BJs Barbecue in Sparks. With five different meat choices (pork, beef, sausage, ham, and meatloaf), there's something for everyone. The sweet and tangy barbecue sauce adds a sassy kick to the flavorful smoked meat and the side dishes round out the meal nicely. The Championship Pork Ribs come in portions of three, five, seven, and 12 with two side dishes and cornbread; ribs also come in portions of seven and 12 with no sides.

The Brew Brothers in the Eldorado Resort Casino
Chow down on traditional St. Louis style ribs at Brew Brothers in the Eldorado Resort Casino. The 1/2 slab of ribs comes with pub slaw and French fries for $13.95. While you're there, check out one of their award-winning beers

Brothers BBQ
Brothers BBQ is keeping it simple with St. Louis style ribs at their Reno restaurant. The ribs come in a half rack with six bones or a full rack with 12 bones. They also have chicken, sandwiches, a barbecue bowl with Fritos, beans, pulled pork, and onions, and a Texas tater topped with cheese, pulled pork, and sour cream.

Charlie Palmer Steak Reno in the Grand Sierra Resort
We said high-brow, right? Enjoy Braised Wagyu short ribs served with saffron risotto and a toasted garlic-basil gremolata at one of Reno's top steakhouses.

Men Wielding Fire
Men Wielding Fire is putting their own twist on classic barbecue food, including what day of the week it's served on. The baby back chipotle ribs come in a half rack and a full rack and are served with the house made chipotle sauce; the half pound of beef short ribs are slow smoked and served with Men Wielding Fire's house made barbecue sauce. But there's catch to both of these delectable concoctions: the chipotle ribs are only served on Mondays and the beef ribs are only served on Tuesdays. However, should you happen to be craving ribs some other night of the week that isn't Monday or Tuesday, the St. Louis Ribs, slow smoked pork rubs seasoned with Men Wielding Fire's shizzle rub and served dry or wet, are served every night of the week.

Fire Break Kitchen & Bar at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe
Up at the lake with zero desire to drive down the hill? Check out the baby back ribs served with Firebreak barbecue sauce and coleslaw at the Fire Break Kitchen & Bar at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Tahoe's south shore.
