Hilsen Øl, which means "spring greeting" in Danish, is on tap now at The Brew Brothers. It is a Danish honey rye lager, the flavor profile of which was inspired by a Danish bread called Rugbrød, a Danish rye bread. Hinge said the beer is very smooth with a dry, lager finish and a little residual sugar. It doesn't have overwhelming hops and the yeast used to make the beer was imported from Copenhagen. Hilsen Øl comes in at 5.6 percent ABV.
"It has hints of honey and rye with a touch of sweetness and finishes with a tartness that's characteristic of the bread," said Hinge, whose family is Danish. "I combined my love of Danish lagers with my love of Danish bread to make this beer."
