Peppermill Resort Spa Casino has introduced locally-sourced food and products in multiple areas of the Resort including restaurants and Spa Toscana.
Four Peppermill restaurants lead the integration of locally-sourced produce which includes kale, romaine, rainbow chard, heirloom tomatoes, micro greens, butternut squash, acorn squash, and spaghetti squash. Produce will be sourced from numerous local farms including Hyde's Herbs, Spanish Springs Greens and Snyder Onions. This produce will be used daily in popular dishes such as the Kale Salad and Classic Caesar salad served at Biscotti's. Additionally, Bimini, Romanza and Oceano will also use locally grown staples to complement other seasonal items.
"As a locally owned resort, we have always tried to support local businesses and the community in general," said Billy Paganetti, general manager of the property. "Integrating local produce was a natural step in continuing Peppermill's dedication to northern Nevada."
Peppermill Reno has also introduced Davidson's Organic Teas in to Spa Toscana and multiple cafés. Davidson's Organic Tea is a local company that produces and distributes organic tea throughout the world.
The Terrace has adopted local breweries and distilleries, serving the Great Basin Icky IPA on tap and a distilled whiskey from Seven Troughs Distilling Co., among other Reno favorites.
"The Peppermill hosts thousands of guests a day from around the world which means we have an incredible platform to share products that are unique to northern Nevada," Paganetti said. "We plan to continue growing the program, utilizing products from local businesses and seasonal produce."
