While the Grand Sierra Resort has seen a lot of changes over the last few years, one thing is certain: it is hard to compete with the casino floor and amenities available at this property. With 10 unique restaurants, a casino floor with classic and modern games, and extras like a driving range and tranquil spa, the Grand Sierra Resort truly has something for every taste.
The GSR has seen major renovations over the last decade and their mission to be a leader in the hospitality and gaming business is evident from the choices they've made in dining establishments to their efforts on the casino floor.
Over the last two years, the Grand Sierra has installed 450 new gaming machines. It's this aggressive replacement cycle that keeps players on the casino floor.
"We cater to a wide variety of players," said Ralph Burdick, VP of Casino Operations. "We have everything from older style games to the newer reel games and video poker."
Slots bring players plenty of opportunities for big wins at the Grand Sierra. Each week players can take part in the $5,000 Lucky Slot Tournament. The tournament is designed for seasoned and new players and rewards FreePlay.
Every Friday night the Grand Sierra Resort rewards $400 in free play to random lucky slot players with a grand prize of $1,000 as part of their Hot Seat Fridays.
The GSR caters to players who enjoy both low and high volatility slots. Low volatility slots offer lots of little rewards, or hits, meaning the game "ride" can last for a long time on a smaller bet. High volatility, or low hit frequency, offer players less frequent wins, but the chance to win much larger jackpots. Depending on what type of ride players enjoy, they'll find it at the GSR.
Gaming and entertainment collide at the Party Pit, located in front of WET Ultra Lounge. The Party Pit features dancers that entertain Blackjack players.
"Players can enjoy playing Blackjack in a fun, relaxing atmosphere," said Burdick.
The Party Pit is open every Friday and Saturday night.
Poker is another big draw for the GSR. A recent poker tournament, the Heartland Poker Tournament, brought 500 players to the property. The GSR caters to poker players of all abilities and even provides free poker lessons.
"We have the nicest high limit poker room in the area," said Burdick. The Heartland Tournament was so successful, a second tournament is scheduled for the fall.
Progressive jackpots aren't just limited to slots at this casino. Currently, there is a Keno jackpot that is over $150,000. The $2 Special 8-Spot Progressive is a great choice for players who want the chance for a big payoff with a relatively small wager. Keno play is available in the Sports Book, Grand Café, and Elements Buffet.
While the Grand Sierra has gaming options to suit every player's taste, they also offer dining and entertainment that is unrivaled at other Reno properties.
The GSR has brought fine dining options like Charlie Palmer's Steak and Briscola while continuing to offer casual faire that suits every taste and budget. With ten restaurants and a variety of bars and lounges visitors are sure to satisfy their taste buds and wet their whistles in style.
In addition to dining, the GSR has worked to provide nightlife options that cater to both those who want to dance the night away and those looking for fine drinks and a relaxing atmosphere. The 25,000 square-foot Lex nightclub offers high-energy entertainment in a state-of-the-art club atmosphere while WET Ultra Lounge offers a more relaxing environment. Country music fans won't want to miss country nights at the William Hill Sports Book. Line dancing and the best in country music are offered every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at this location.
Other amenities offered at this property include bowling, driving range, a movie theatre, indoor golf and unique shopping. The Spa at the Grand Sierra Resort offers the finest in pampering and a tranquil atmosphere.
The hardest part about visiting the Grand Sierra may be deciding just where to start.
