We bring 100-200 adventure lovers together every Wed night with our event. Shows typically last an hour, and are presented by incredible, world-traveling adrenaline junkies. Most presenters are locals. Topics include mountaineering, backcountry skiing, river running, adventure cycling, world travel and more.

Historical Program on African-American Entertainers Touring Nevada

Professor Alex Albright delivers a presentation on African-American traveling vaudeville shows, focusing on the December 1925 tour of Nevada made by the Georgia Minstrels.

The group boasted one of the best African-American show bands and concert orchestras in the United States with several veterans whose stage careers stretched back into the nineteenth century. The Minstrels played Elko, Winnemucca and Reno.

Spanish guitars, blended with Latin percussion, create the gypsy-influenced, acoustic sound of Cerro Negro. While incorporating the fusion of flamenco, Brazilian, and Jazz guitar techniques with Latin, Africa, and Middle-Eastern percussion, Cerro Negro’s music soars with passionate vocals embracing a village of rhythms, styles, and languages. Aaron Lewis Acoustic Show

When Staind frontman Aaron Lewis hits the stage for his solo acoustic tour, he will be stripped of the usual fanfare of rock. Armed with only his guitar, his songs and your requests, he will bring the concert experience back-to-basics.

Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort's 40th Anniversary Celebration

We'll offer a specially priced $40 lift ticket for purchase online and give all Vertical Plus members that ski/ride on this day 40,000 feet. The first 40 people who purchase tickets at the resort that morning will also receive a commemorative T-shirt.

There will be a Skiing through the Decades demonstration by Ski School and, beginning at 3:00 p.m., the Sierra Pub will top off the celebration by offering food & drink specials, a live DJ playing tunes from 1968, and footage from the early days of Sierra Ski Ranch.

Metamorphoses

Brüka Theatre proudly announces the extension of the second show of its 2008/2009 season, Metamorphoses. During its run in November and December Brüka has received rave reviews and enthusiastic audiences for their production. Metamorphoses is Mary Zimmerman's inventive adaptation of Ovid's myths. The stories are played out in and around a pool of water, fusing elements of movement, music and light along with humor, contemporary resonance, passion and deep emotion.

8 p.m. on Jan. 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24 and 2 p.m. on Jan. 18.

tickets are $20 for general $18 for students and seniors and $25 at the door.

Tahoe Adventure Film Festival

The Tahoe Adventure Film Festival is a fun, high-energy festival meant to fuel the passion for action, and ignite the senses for adventure. The festival highlights the best adventure sports films of the year and will expand to Reno after being shown in Lake Tahoe. The action includes photo displays, break-dancers, DJs, raffles for season ski passes and more.

Mile High-Carson High Jazz Extravaganza

It's "big-band jazz times two" when the Carson High Jazz Band and the Mile High Jazz Band (MHJB) present their fifth annual joint concert, the "Mile High-Carson High Jazz Extravaganza."
