Jumping dummies create excitement at Diamond Peak

April 9, 2008

Diamond Peak held a successful Dummy Downhill on April 5 with more than 20 dummy participants. The deck was full of people and it was a perfect sunny day with a jump built on Lower Showoff.

Dummies of all shapes and sizes flew down the mountain, exploding, back-flipping, or landing the jump perfectly. The Downhill Luge won the biggest ball of flame award and the longest jump (landing 146 ft.) and Jackpot Judy won the Originality Award for its bright silver slot machine with a girl holding the handle. Don’t Drink the Kool Aid was a massive spaceship that floated gracefully through the air, and the Turkish Scuba Diver left a red trail down the mountain.

Ski and Snowboard School Director Carl Hill said, “This was the best Dummy Downhill ever.”

Judges included Dennis from Sierra Summits Sunblock, Jim and Gina from Crosby’s, and Pam from the Hacienda. Winners enjoyed prizes from Crosby’s, Austin’s, Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa & Casino, Tahoe Sands Resort, and more. Thanks again to everyone who participated and watched; we hope you’ll join us next year. Please check out www.diamondpeak.com for photos posted.
