Lake Tahoe snowboader designs enviro-friendly board

Concerned about the impact your snowboard has on the environment? Check out Makboards, a new snowboard designed to ride the mountain like a surf board and made of 100% clear plastic polymer making it the world's first fully recyclable snowboard.

The Makboard was invented in Lake Tahoe, Calif., by surfer-turned-snowboarder Bob Candler, who spent 15 years tinkering in his garage, perfecting a revolutionary snowboard. When a Makboard has reached the end of its life, it can simply be melted down and reshaped into a new snowboard by returning it to the company with a pre-paid shipping label.

Want to ride before you buy? Test out the Makboard at Squaw Valley's Earth Day Saturday, April 26.
