Artown begins with a kick-off event July 1. Major names and acts from the international world of entertainment perform at various venues. Attendance continues to grow, with 2007's Artown reaching 350,000. From the local musician to the international superstars, Artown sponsors and the Reno community support its artists.

Artown enters its 13th season during 2008, transforming the neon-clad city into a summer hub of cultural entertainment and what the National Endowment for the Arts calls one of the most comprehensive art festivals in the country.

2008 Artown
This year’s Artown agenda includes renowned artists such as Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis on July 5, Tony and Emmy Award winner Mandy Patinkin on July 15 and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird on July 16.

A number of Festival favorites return including:
• Food for the Soul World Music Series,

• Movies in the Park

• Rollin’ on the River music series

• Monday Night Family Series

• Discover the Arts children’s series.

Events take place throughout Reno and have ranged over the years from free performances to world-class entertainment by such famed performers as Mikhail Baryshnikov, Herbie Hancock and American Ballet Theater.
