Virginia Street Bridge
Built in 1905 by Cotton Brothers and Company of Oakland, the bridge is also known as "Wedding Ring Bridge;" Divorcees would kiss the columns of the Courthouse and cast their wedding rings into the Truckee River. Architect John B. Leonard of San Francisco chose a Beaux Arts design in keeping with the urban setting of the bridge.

The Historic Reno Preservation Society offers Historic Walking Tours of downtown Reno and some of the interesting and unique structures and neighborhoods of Reno.

Some of the tours you can schedule include:

Beyond the Arches
Witness downtown Reno as it has reinvented itself for 150 years. This tour links the downtown Reno arches with stories of the forces that shaped the town: railroad and mining, immigrants, as a notorious divorce and gambling mecca— and now as a livable cultural hub. Walk in the footsteps of Bill Harrah, Myron Lake, Baby Face Nelson, Frederic DeLongchamps and others.

Bike Tour Through Old Reno
Ride along quiet streets under a canopy of trees in Reno's oldest neighborhoods. Helmet required.

Bricks and Stones
A walk in the vernacular Humboldt and Lander Streets neighborhood. Discover the architectural treasure trove of this area, a mix of bungalows, Tudor and mission revivals and cottage styles.

DeLongchamps Architecture
This long walk takes you on a tour of many noteworthy buildings designed by Reno's notable architect, Frederick DeLongchamps, in residential and commercial neighborhoods.

Historic Truckee River Walk
A relaxing stroll along the Truckee River reveals eclectic architecture grounded by rich political histories and spiced with colorful anecdotes.

Lake Addition
Meander past divorce trade dwellings and Victorian architecture, through one of Reno's earliest additions. Includes a stop at the Lake Mansion.

Literary Reno
There's more to Reno's literary history than City of Trembling Leaves! Reno continues to be a mythical magnet for 'outsider' writers and characters…the misfits, outcasts and seekers.

Let your imagination roam as we travel downtown streets encountered by traditional writers like Will James, Robert Laxalt and Joanne Delongchamps, then walk the haunts of contemporary writers such as Bernie Schopen, Willy Vlautin and Susan Palwick.

Mansions on the Bluff
A historic walk that looks at some of the most notable homes in Reno. Court, Ridge, and upper California streets were home to 3 senators and the merchants that made early Reno "The Biggest Little City."

Monroe Street
Stroll along Monroe and Joaquin Miller Streets, savoring the history and architecture of this lovely residential area south of the Newlands Neighborhood. You will see the Hart House, the Patrick Ranch House, Greystone Castle and other homes.

And more:
