Reno Jazz Festival

Since its first year in 1962, the Reno Jazz Festival has endeavored to bring to Reno both talented students and renowned professional artists. The festival has consistently attracted some of the best school bands in the nation, in part because they enjoy the festival's competition and also because they know they will get to see great artists in concert and in workshops.

The 2012 event is over; stay tuned for information on the 2013 event as soon as details are released.

In the past decade alone, such greats as Michael and Randy Brecker, Dave Holland, Nicholas Payton, Bobby Hutcherson, Maria Schneider, Roy Haynes, Ravi Coltrane, Ingrid Jensen, Joshua Redman, Lee Konitz and many others have participated at the festival.

As usual, there will be many workshops with some of the finest clinicians and performers in the country. Adjudicators and clinicians come from all over the country. With more than 300 school groups, 9,000 participants, and 60 clinicians, performers, and adjudicators, the Reno Jazz Festival continues to strive to ensure that every guest participant leaves with a greater knowledge, understanding, appreciation and love of music — and the world of jazz.
