Winters in Reno are beautiful and even more exquisite when paired with the delicate holiday lights and Christmas lawn decorations showcased every year at the Parade of Lights in Hidden Valley.
For 29 years, the neighborhood in southeast Reno, has hosted the Parade of Lights, which invites visitors to tour Hidden Valley by car or foot to see the embellished homes with twinkling lights, nativity scenes, florescent holiday wishes, snowmen and festive garnishes. You may even see wild horses slowly roaming the neighborhood. Travel east of Reno to McCarran Boulevard at the intersection of Rock Boulevard and Pembroke Drive; turn east, cross the Pembroke Bridge over the Truckee River and follow the lights.
One resident, David West, boasts first prize in the competition for more than 20 years in a row.
“I had 20,000-30,000 lights, 8 miles of electrical wire, and an extra power box to support the total electricity at our house,” said West. “I'm really like the grandfather of the Hidden Valley Parade of Lights.”
