Christmas carols will come alive on Saturday, Dec. 6 at the 22nd annual Sparks Hometowne Christmas.

Whether observing the nativity scene, getting a glimpse of Frosty the Snowman, hearing assorted Christmas musical selections or enjoying characters or costumes from popular Christmas carols, the parade will feature much for the public to enjoy.

This year’s grand marshal will be Athens and Beijing Olympic Gold Medalist, swim star Natalie Coughlin.

The parade will again travel from east to west on Victorian Avenue and run from 1- 3 p.m. Immediately following the parade, attendees are invited to watch the Cami Thompson and Friend’s Christmas Caroles Come to Life show on the main stage, adjacent to the Saint Mary’s Amphitheater. Outdoor seating and heater lamps will be provided for this 75-minute musical production.

Following Cami Thompson and Friends will be the accomplished Reed High School Intermezzo Choir, who will sing traditional Christmas selections until 5 p.m.

The day’s events will conclude with the Tree Lighting Ceremony, also conducted from the main stage, from 5- 5:30 p.m.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will greet and visit with children in the Glendale Schoolhouse from noon – 2 p.m. and again from 3:30-5 p.m. Also, Sparks Heritage Museum will offer Christmas storytelling at noon.

A handicapped area will be reserved along the parade route on the northeast corner of 10th & Victorian.
