Country crooner plays Jan. 16

Whether the times have favored honky tonk or lushly produced “pop” offerings, George Jones has continued to make his brand of country music, which has produced hits in every decade of the second half of the 20th century. Come see him perform on Jan. 16 at 8 p.m. in the Grande Exposition Hall at Silver Legacy Resort Casino.

Jones had his first No. 1 country hit in 1959 with White Lightning. The hits kept coming and he had No. 1hits with Tender Years, She Thinks I Still Care, The Window Up Above, The Race is On and Walk Through This World To Me.

Jones was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1992. His newest album Burn Your Playhouse Down, released this year, is a collection of never before heard duets. The recordings range from the mid-70s with ex-wife Tammy Wynette to the most recent recording from 2007 with his daughter Georgette, with Wynette. Jones continues to work about 100 shows a year.
