Sierra Arts fall art sale returns in new downtown Reno venue
Support regional artisans on Saturday, Sept. 13
September 3, 2008
Excitement is building for art lovers as Downtown Reno prepares for Sierra Arts' once-a-year extravaganza, the Fall Art Sale. On Saturday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., 100 North Virginia Street in Downtown Reno will turn into a veritable shopping mall of artwork in a wide variety of mediums.
Originally dubbed the "Starving Artists Sale," this annual autumn event has provided regional artists with an opportunity to showcase and sell their works for over a decade. 2008 will bring one notable change, as the Fall Art Sale is brought indoors for the first time since it changed monikers. Reno's unpredictable September weather will not be a concern this year, as artwork will be protected from the elements in the Fall Art Sale's new venue. Empty since 1997, the event will utilize Woolworth's former home in Downtown Reno for a one-day celebration of area talent.
Several local artists have been involved in the non-profit arts organization's annual sale year after year. "I've participated in most of Sierra Arts Fall Art Sales and have always found it to be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Artists are among the best in our area and customers appreciate art." said Carolyn McLeod.
