If you have grown tired of singing in the shower, the University of Nevada, Reno’s Nevada Chamber Opera wants you…to audition.

Damon Stevens, University music and dance lecturer and production musical director, will hold auditions for the November production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s musical comedy H.M.S. Pinafore, on Aug. 27, from 4 to 6:45 p.m., in the Church Fine Arts Building, room 110.

“This is Gilbert and Sullivan’s funniest, most glorious musical theater creation,” Stevens said. “It’s brilliantly alive with classic characters and exhilarating music. This is a wonderful opportunity for members of the community to both enjoy and also to contribute to the creativity that the campus has to offer.”

Those who plan to audition must prepare a classic musical theater tune (e.g., Rodgers & Hammerstein) or an aria, and be dressed to move around onstage. An accompanist will be provided.

H.M.S Pinafore performances are Nov. 21 and 22 at 7:30 and Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. in Nightingale Concert Hall on campus.

The University will host more than 24 arts and cultural events this fall. It publishes a complete description of activities in the arts365 calendar.
