2008 Reno RodeoDo not miss the 3rd largest and richest rodeo in North America, the Reno Rodeo, with more than $2.5 million going to the world's toughest cowboys and cowgirls.



More than 800 contestants will enter to compete in the Reno Rodeo June 19-28. Fans can see the winners compete up to three times during the 9-day performance, and are guaranteed to see the World's Top 15 cowboys in each event perform for cash prizes and the event winner receives the coveted Reno Rodeo Silver Spurs. Total purse for the rodeo is more than $550,000.

Scruples Unplugged celebrates eight years of local music

Scruples UnpluggedBest bands from Northern Nevada and beyond as you've never seen them. Shows begin each Saturday at 8 p.m. And tickets still cost just $10 and are available only at Scruples Bar & Grill, 91 W. Plumb Lane. Each concert will feature drink and food specials.

Prepare for Thursday Night Farmer's Markets in Sparks

Farmer's MarketsDon't miss the Hometowne Farmer's Market held on Victorian Square in downtown Sparks this summer. The event takes place every Thursday evening, 4-9 p.m. June 12-Aug. 21, except Aug. 8.



Shoppers can enjoy fresh picked produce from some of the finest growers, a tasty variety of international food and beverage items, packaged foods, unique arts and crafts, and assorted flowers. Each week of the farmer's market offers new themes, different community group involvement, exciting stage music and street performers, and returning and new sponsors are also weekly highlights.

New location and expanded events for 2008 Reno's portion of Tour de Nez

Tour De NezThe Grand Sierra Resort will host the Reno Pro-Meet-and-Greet Kick off Party, Kids' Races, Clunker Races and Pro Twilight Criterium on June 17-18.



The June 17-18 portion of the popular professional stage race and celebration of cycling will be held at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. The events were previously held in downtown Reno, but have been expanded this year to include a large scale meet-and-greet party, along with additional enthusiast and amateur events and races.

Fallon Raceway revs up for Octane Fest

Octane FestDubbed "A tire-smokin,' sand-throwin,' car-jumpin,' Nitro-burnin,' rockin'-and-rollin' extravaganza," Octane Fest 2008 is a week-long celebration of full-throttle motor-sports action at Top Gun Raceway June 10-15 in Fallon. Brought to fans by the Fallon Convention and Tourism Authority, Octane Fest features car and bike races, vendors, live music, food, Demo Derby, stunt teams, motocross, dirt track races, car show and pit festivities.
