History of Cakebread Cellars
A trip to Napa Valley more than 30 years ago for photographs resulted in the creation of Cakebread Cellars. Jack Cakebread was taking pictures for a book when he casually mentioned to a friend he was interested in owning a vineyard some day. When Cakebread returned home, he received a phone call from that friend offering to sell his Napa Valley ranch in Rutherford. Later that afternoon, Cakebread Cellars was born.
Today, Cakebread Cellars owns 13 vineyards throughout Napa Valley. Wines produced include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Cakebread Cellars has also been an advocate for healthy eating since the 1980s. Jack Cakebread’s wife, Dolores, hosts an annual four-day seminar for top chefs from around the country to learn about the wine industry and explore the relationship between wine and healthy foods. Cakebread Cellars also offers cooking classes for guests, wine tastings, and tours of the winery.
