The Great Reno Balloon Race: What to bring
The early morning hours bring special requirements to The Great Reno Balloon Race. If attending the glow show or the dawn patrol, be sure to bring a flashlight to the park. Parking can be a challenge even during the early morning hours and spectators can have a long walk from the car to the park.
The early morning dew can leave the grass in the field feeling a little damp, so bringing a blanket or lawn chair will help keep visitors comfortable and dry as they watch over 100 balloons inflate and fill the skies above the Truckee Meadows.
Dress for the early morning conditions and come prepared with warm clothes. The temperatures can be very chilly, while waiting for sun. Hot chocolate or coffee in a thermos is also a good way to stay warm in the early morning. Coffee, snacks and souvenirs will also be available for purchase throughout the event.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, than the photo opportunities at the balloon races would take care on the entire dictionary. Brilliantly, colored balloons set against a bright blue sky equal a perfect picture every time. Also, try taking photos of the balloons before they are completely inflated. Interesting photos come from all stages of the balloon races, so be prepared with extra batteries and large media cards and shoot away.
