Arts in Bloom: A Day for Mom and Komen for the Cure

Sparks Marina hosts fund-raiser for breast cancer and to celebrate moms

On Mother's Day, the sixth annual Arts in Bloom festival will be held at the Sparks Marina Park, 300 Howard Drive, Sparks, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. May 11. The event benefits the Northern Nevada Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Treat mom to a special day under the sun, take home some of the region's finest assortment of artwork, enjoy fine food and popular entertainment, and participate in a special celebrity painted plate auction featuring the works of well-known figures. All proceeds from the auction will be contributed to the Komen for the Cure Foundation of Northern Nevada.

Plates designed by famous folks will be auctioned off with proceeds to benefit Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer for the Cure. Participating celebrities include Bette Midler, American Idol Winner Jordin Sparks, Beach Boys lead singer Mike Love, High School Musical's Zac Efron, Dierks Bentley, Star Wars Carrie Fisher, Roberta Flack, Napoleon Dynamite's Efren Ramirez.

10 a.m. - Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra
Art Vendors and food & beverage sales begin

11 - Escalade

Noon - Celebrity painted-plate auction

1 p.m. - David Pack Band, David is a Grammy Award-winner and the former lead singer of Ambrosia

The event is free and open to the public.
