Needles and pin-ups: Lady Luck Tattoo Expo 2008
Circus Circus seems the most apropos place to host the mayhem and merriment coming to town this March 14-16 as the Lady Luck Tattoo Expo rolls into Reno, bringing with it a traveling carnival of artists and entourage from the body-modification world.
The fun kicks off Friday with international tattoo artists and shops represented; with vendors who deal all the needles, ink, machines, swag, supplies, clothing, art and jewelry associated with the society of the inked and their ilk.

Reno gets green for St. Patrick's Day celebrations
How the feast of St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, devolved into a green-beer-guzzling, pub-slogging, corned-beef-and-cabbage noshing party for all people -- we may never know. Really, Ireland never had snakes, and it was the pagans he drove out, but whatever. Let's drink to ol' St. Paddy, anyway. Here are a few lucky stops to hit along the shamrock way. And beware the leprechauns.

Save the date: Reno River Fest 2008
The 5th annual Reno River Festival welcomes a whole other kind of competition to its lineup for 2008, the "Run Amuck" fun run, Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m. This year, in addition to getting wet and wild at the Truckee River Whitewater Park, teams of two are invited to get down and dirty during this relay-style, two-mile run that follows the river's path and requires its runners to crawl through a mud pit on hands and knees while wielding the team's baton.
