Spring has sprung and you’ve got the itch. You’ve got a snazzy new case for your iPod, flashy new sunglasses and you’re ready to hit the trails and log some miles on your bicycle. But then you remember, it’s been sitting in storage since August and you aren’t sure what to do with that dusty mass of steal and rubber hanging in the back corner of your garage.

Take heart you aren’t alone and Eric Carter at High Sierra Cycling and Fitness understands your pain. So grab your bike pump and some dirty rags and get ready to get your hands dirty while we show you how to get your bike ready for the spring. Check out the video below to see Carter guide you through the four things you need to do before you can get out on your bike.

Now that your bike is ready to go be sure to prepare yourself for the trails by checking out Carter’s on-trail maintenance and preparedness tips.

If you want more, be sure to check out last year’s spring mountain biking tuneup guide.

If you and your bike are ready and you don’t know where to go, check out our feature story on spring riding to get the low down on the spring season’s hottest spots. The Spring Cycle: It's time to hit the road.
