Piscopo's Frank Sinatra character from Saturday Night Live has turned into a full tribute to Ol' Blue Eyes complete with a 16-piece orchestra that is directed by Vinnie Falcone who was Frank Sinatra's music director for years. Joan Sebastian is a popular three-time Grammy Award and five-time Latin Grammy Award winning-Mexican singer and songwriter. Experience the national playground and cultural phenomenon in Yosemite: Art of an American Icon, on view beginning this fall at the Nevada Museum of Art (NMA). From an ideal of wilderness to the complex and often congested experience of the park today, this exhibition explores Yosemite’s changing visual identity and cultural role as a national destination. Yosemite spans three centuries and includes works by Albert Bierstadt, Ansel Adams, Edward Muybridge, Chiura Obata and Anne Brigman. Yosemite: Art of an American Icon, featuring over 140 paintings, photographs and Native American baskets will be presented in the Feature Gallery from October 13 to January 14, 2008. The Nevada Historical Society hosts The Central Pacific Railroad and the Comstock now through Dec. 14 in the Changing Gallery. The exhibit highlights Nevada’s first railroad, an important part of the nation’s first transcontinental line, and illustrates how discovery of the Comstock Lode in late 1859 defined its route. Holy Exhibition, Batman – It’s the Batmobile: The unique Batmobile, made famous in comics, on TV and in movies is in downtown Reno at the National Automobile Museum, the Harrah Collection, through Dec. 31. The Nevada State Museum is proud to host the new exhibit Slot Machines: The Fey Collection which highlights machines by the renowned designer Charles August Fey.
