Machu Picchu: Fried goodness but not low-fat fare
Food Bites: A blog about Reno’s dining and restaurant scene

Machu Picchu is undoubtedly the only Peruvian restaurant in the Reno-Sparks area. In fact, it's the only Peruvian restaurant I remember seeing anywhere.
My friend and I started off with an order of Fried Yuca, which is, appropriately enough, fried yucca root, served with a slightly spicy cheese sauce that reminded us of pancake batter.
The yucca root itself tasted similar to a French fry, only a little sweeter and a heck of a lot stickier. Then, I followed that up with the Bistec A Lo Pobre, which is a thin steak on a bed of rice and French fries, with a few slices of fried plantains and a couple of eggs over-easy on top.
My friend had a soup that consisted of angel-hair pasta and small bits of steak in a cream sauce. It should go without saying at this point, that this is not low-fat fare.
They still have a sign saying, "Opening Soon!" over their door, and the waiter was pushing the limit of American child-labor requirements.
They don't offer any desserts. However, the restaurant is clearly open, the waiter was friendly and helpful, and the food was tasty, if you're into all things fried.
