Artown presents 31 days of free activities
Reno ArtownIn its quest to strengthen the artistic climate and cultural identity of northern Nevada, Artown will once again bring its series of free, culturally enriching performances to the stages of Reno throughout the month of July.

Deemed one of the nation's largest and most comprehensive festivals by the National Endowment for the Arts, 70% of Artown's programming is free to the public, resulting in nearly 250 events and activities that allow audiences to get up-close and personal with the arts -- at no cost. This month-long celebration of artistic diversity and innovation runs the gamut with entertainment options available for young children, tweens, teens, adults and seniors.

Downtown Reno Farmers Market begins July 6
Reno Farmers MarketLocal farmers and businesses are uniting to bring fresh food to downtown Reno this summer. See the partnership of local farmers and market chefs as fresh food is prepared on site. The Downtown Marketplace will serve farm-fresh salads and wraps made with local produce. Hawkins Amphitheater dreamiest place in town for a midsummer night
Hawkins AmphitheaterHawkins Amphitheater is the best place in town to go for a summer show, hands down. Located on Bartley Ranch off Lakeside Drive, this music venue is literally in the middle of one of the most beautiful residential areas of Reno, directly below what we locals refer to as "Windy Hill," which is full of exquisite homes and extended ranchland, as well as a plethora of aged trees and fresh vegetation that manages to look beautiful year-round.

Every summer, Hawkins Amphitheater hosts an absolutely amazing summer concert series, so making it to one of their shows this season should be a priority for your hazy, lazy, crazy days of summer.

The top five places in Reno to escape to 'Margaritaville'
Top 5 margaritas in RenoIts easy to love a good margarita. These delicious tequila drinks come in so many flavors, colors, shapes, sizes and consistencies, one recipe is sure to please even the fussiest liquor connoisseur. With such a wide variety of margaritas on the market, where can Reno visitors and locals find the best? After days of margarita-hopping and sampling as many margaritas our writer possibly could without dying, we've narrowed it down to a list of Reno's Top 5 Margaritas. Check it out:

Number 5: Hacienda, 10580 N. McCarran Blvd., #102, (775) 746-2228

I ordered a regular margarita on the rocks, and only drank half before pawning it off on somebody else at my table. The margaritas at the Hacienda are really good, but I prefer them unsalted. There's just a little too much salt going on for my taste at this place, but served without is just as tasty. The drink was quite strong. But that's what you want in a margarita, right? I mean, if you're paying more than $5 for a drink, you want it to be well worth it.

Looking back at a rough week, and looking ahead
Reno 360

Reno.com editor Megg Mueller writes Reno 360º, a blog for those who love Reno and aren't afraid to admit it.

What a week. I've got company in town this week, visiting for nine days from Maryland. They arrived last Saturday, and on Sunday I took them to see Lake Tahoe, figuring that was the top of the "must do" list. We spent the day at Sand Harbor, and they couldn't have been more impressed with the lake's beautiful water and gorgeous surroundings.

And then we saw the fire start. Little did we know how much damage would come from the Angora Fire, but we were amazed as we watched the plumes grow at a startling rate. I told them this wasn't good. I told them to get in the water, despite their shock at its temperature, because this fire could affect the lake's clarity. I hate that I was right about that.
